If you spend much time online and have done a little research about acai berry, then you are sure to have heard about acai berry scams where people have been ripped off after ordering acai supplements online. The reasons for these reported scams is twofold:
1. Dodgy advertisers who don’t clearly notify the consumer of the real terms and conditions of the offer. These advertisers would hide the terms (which state you will be billed each month for the product) and hoped the consumers wouldn’t see them. When the consumer got billed the following month they would scream ‘scam’ and try to reverse the bank charges. A number of these advertisers (often based in the US) have been sued by the local authorities and their cases are still pending.
2. Consumers not reading what they are signing up for. Most of the acai berry merchants and advertisers do in fact follow the rules and clearly state the terms and conditions of the offer but the consumers don’t bother to read these conditions. They are then surprised when they get billed at the end of the month for their continued supply. Just to be clear, the trial offers you see advertised are usually a 2 week trial and subscription offer. This means if you don’t cancel in the first 2 weeks (which starts on the day you place your order) you will be billed each month and continue to receive the product until you cancel (by calling their customer service number).
Most of the acai berry offers you see advertised nowadays and not scams and clearly show the terms of the offer to consumers before they purchase. It is then up to you, as the consumer, to read and accept these terms before you enter your credit card details. Trying a product before getting a regular supply is a legitimate sales method which works well for both parties, so long as the consumer is aware of what they are signing up for.
We recommend you order from a legitimate acai berry supplement company and read the terms and conditions of the offer carefully before getting your trial bottle.
Hi,
I have been caught with this and want to cancel. My bank gave my a website with email to cancel my subscription, but the emails haven’t gotten through. I have returned the latest product with a note to cancel. Can someone advise if anything else is required?
Hi
Beware the Acai Berry Scams a sample bottle cost me initially around $9 a bottle however then I recieved a further bottle also then credit card statement 2x $135.60
to credited to Smilekit 866-407-5759 Singapore ,dont bother ringing the number not in service
Beware this product
I have been scammed from UK. accept responsibity. However I need contact email or phone to cancel ongoing orders.
Can you please help
There should be a phone number on your credit card statement. I’m not sure if it would be for the UK or US but it should work.
Otherwise, if you know the product you ordered, visit their website and information on how to cancel your subscription should be on the ‘Contact Us’ page and also in the terms and conditions.
If that doesn’t work then I suggest you contact your bank and they can help you.
I recomend that you simply ring the bank and tell them there is a scam, indicate the transaction and amount. They will block your card, and issue you a new one. I think this is much safer. You won’t pay any further.
@downunder – wouldn’t that be fraud because you agreed to the terms of the offer so you agreed to be charged each month.
I think your bank can only help you if you didn’t receive the product you paid for or if they refuse to cancel your subscription.
I too was scammed and their email address is false, in fact it was that of a car dealership in Texas. This in itself allows the banks to cancel because it is deceptive. I finished up getting most of my money back apart from my initial order. By the way it doesn’t work.
I ordered free trials of Acai Optimum and AdvancedColon at 3.95 shipping only. I was aware I had to cancel within 14 days or incur further charges. I did not receive either trial offer and tried to cancel on day 13. The phone number was bogus and so I tried to cancel online by sending message which still didnt seem to get thru. In the end I cancelled my credit card so hopefully this will work and the scammers will get lost. Warning to others – dont do it, go to local healthstore and buy off the shelf.
In additon to the fine print (cancel within 15 days of order – perhaps before product even arrives), is the possibility that when you Do ring to cancel, your cancellation isn’t recorded, and/or you learn they have sent you ‘TWO months supply’ and to avoid full cost, you need to return the ‘extra’ product. Alternatively you might be offered express cancel, for a fee of course. I DID post the ‘extra’ product to supplied address, but still saw full charges on my card – now I’m following up with AcaiOptimum supplier (stay tuned).
Further to my posting of July 11, I am happy to report that after my follow up phonecall, the marketing company has reversed the charges on my creidt car. So I did get the oriniginally promosed ‘free trial period’, but that required me to follow the fine print, phone twice to ensure ‘autoomatic re-orde’r was cancelled, then pay postage to return ‘extra’ product and finally to pursue refund of unexpected charges to my credit card.
I teach Uni students to read contracts before they agree, and to follow up on their consumer rights – this transaction would make a good case study. Maybe the stress induced by this whole deal will lead to weight loss for me;)
Hi – I applied for the free trial – bought a $50 visa from post office first because I didnt want mine registered and asked the question about 14 day – no reply – took 2 weeks go receive order then I cancelled – they sent me offer to extend at $9.95 per month – I now agree I think scam to collect $$$. I can say No weight loss however I have noticed more energy and feeling better – colon cleanse has helped a little but did not cleanse as advertised. contact I have is Customer Care Department available from 9am to 6pm EST (Eastern Standard Time)-Regards,Acai Optimum Customer Care Support (03) 9008 7796 and email – support@paraslim.com
Hi,
This is fraud. I was taken in yesterday. Their fine print is actually different on each of their pages and the charge immediately charged to my credit card(not after 30days as stated) was $114 something.
I phoned yesterday as well as emailing immediately whenthe fineprint after you placed the order was different from the first and second page that showed. I tried the back buttons but was not taken back the path I had followed. from my computers history log I found it.
You ALL have to contact VIsa. I did today. They know it is a fraud and siad many mnay people have ben taken in and will rwfund your money. All of you do it now and you should get a form posted to you to fill out. Visa is taking it up with Visa international.
It’s a long story. I did contact them immediately re the differnt term and conditions after my order was placed.
My order no said there was no order. Spme popup which fkashed over and transferred to another page.
I was concerned they may not be aware of their errors in their website so repeatedly tried phoning.
I wasnt sure of the no was Austrlai , UK oe US as it didnt answer in the daytime, I wanted until UK office hrs and tried Uk.. no such no, tried US no such no and got onto a Victorian phone no.
The lady kept repeating I was responsible as I had had signed up but she would cancel any further charges and I got an emial stating that.
Visa have cancelled my credit card and issuing a new one with a idfferent no, which is a bit of a pian as I now have to inform all of my regular charges like Electricity etc, sigh. I used a credit card that actually expires at the end of July, and they have stated and sent me an email saying they will make no further charges, BUT I just dont; trust them at all.
I did get to speak to the supervisor in teh Us and I have his name that he gave me. I stated it was considered fraud in Australia and if he didnt stop my order from beong posted out (it was still before office start in US) and not charge the credit card anything I would be informing Visa and I’d even fight in court if necessary. Ido mean it, but Visa told me there is no “ombudsman” etc in Australia I can alert. I will be filling in all the details with Visa and if they need me , I wam prepared to go to court though.
The supervisor said he could not cancel the credit card transaction as it goes thru immediately you press submit, but he would do a refind..ONLY it would not go thru for 2 or 3 days. This seems a tad “suss” given everything else, so I stoill phoned Visa this morning. I asked him to NOT ship the product out, as I had asked the lady who aNSWERS THE PHONE WITH THE 02 PHONE NO.
I did get the phone no and in ternet email address Before ordering and I did read eberything I could find on the webpage.
The first page is set up though , that wioth the slow connection it looks like you have the whole page open and yuou don;t.. it’s all designed as part of the fraud. It was only LATER that I saw there was mkore to the page and a even different set of terms and conditions than was stated and that I was charged. One page says $79 after one moneth I think?, one page says $118 after 2 weeks, one page sayd $26 every month after the forst $3.50 and you can cancel at any time.. this one flashes up when I closed the order page which could find no order for me under my order no , or any of the parameters you can enter on the site.
It signed me up immediately for the program on clicking submit although I didnt request this and it stated on the previous page you had a trial period of 30 days (I think)? The probelm is it would take a few days to record it all accuartely as every page was different and there were alaso popups or pages that flashed up and then disappeared as it took you to another page saying something else.
This site IS fraud. I dont’t expect to receive anything, and after the website, I do not now want to try consuming the product as it too could have fraudelent ingredients, which could affect one’s health.
if I do get anything, I will attempt to see if the product meets any certfication anywhere in UK or US and notify any releavt authorities if it has not met any “hgealth type ” checks..eg in Australia we have the tga, US have the FDA etc. I have no idea where exactly they ship the product from but I doubt it is the US, which is probably whY the US can;t stop the shipment?
ANYWAU , this is NO ordinary website. Just keeping the phone no and email adress and immediately contacting them will jnto work They try to imtimidate you by saying you are at fault by clicking the submit button without reading the trems and coditions, but the terms and conditions discplayed are NOT what they charge you, or the same as they state on the final page.
The first page in this saga is
consumer-health-weekly.com/traceyjones.php
If you try following the links, make up an address like Test st and Test coity and postcode 4444 etc to get to the next page.. dont enetr your Own details or any real details!! YOu will see what I mean
I also when entering TRIAl once had a popup abouting getting free shipping.. or you’ve been slected to get free shipping.. but these ppups dont stay.
The other popups state you agree to be charged $0.00 for the product, and some popup page when I closed saying ”Are you sure” we can give you the porduct for only #3.50 and 74%^ at $26 (I think) a month..that page didnt stay either:)
nut I am unsure if the product is even safe now as so much is fraud, I would not be game to consume it!
I will try contacting the producers of the product (presumably oin the UK) IF I ever receive it about it’s contents and any certfication they have as I am unsure if they know of the scam or not.
I contacted the US (via the 02 no supervisor, at least he sounded like a US accent).
sorry retypos..I cant type, slow and many mistakes and no edit here
phone no was 03 as stated in the comment above mine. Email was opened and a response stating they were looking into it..but then nothing. I dod not Know if lawsin US are different to her (as I told them) but I consider it fraud in Australia, though Im not an expert at the law ,and Visa consider it fraud too..and have it labelled as such if you contact them. They have many cases, so I hope that helps others feel not quite so foolish and contact Visa as well.
After I tried to log in to see my order and found it wasnt there on the site but I had been signed on, wothout requesting it to their program.. I closed the site and an webpage flashed up.. “Are you sure? and offered it for a #43.50 trial and nothing more to pay and after 30 days $26 (I think – for 2 bottles?, sorry did not get to save that page but 75% off)
then after I emailed their support about what I was to be charged and wanting to cancel immediately before shipped IF it wasnt as led to believe , ie $41.19, and could cancel up to either 14 days or one month (I didnt realise you had to return the empty bottles.. well not return is it..post to a UK adddress, so its different country to where sent..so there is NO way it can be done in one month with customs is there?).. If I had known that one I would never have ordered!
Anyway I then got this email
darn doesn’t copy here
says regukar trial price 4.95 and crossed out and price is 3.95 for a 30 day trial plus you get to lock in a refilll price of 14.95 refill instead of the usual $79.98
One of the terms and conditions says the price was a regular $79 so this is close.
Howvere my credit card was charged $114 something.
It’s a scam.. unsure if the actual product is good or not from these people, could not be what it states…will check this out and try to let you know.
Problem with supplements..some synthetics can (from scientific studies) actually increase your chance of cancer , and also if it doesnt have what it states in there there could be a grave health risk..which is arguably much worse than the financial sca,m.. yeah, I just lost trust

This website is a scam too
consumer-health-weekly.com/traceyjones.php
I wrote a comment warning people immedaitly I had been charged yesterday, But it was not publishes..as they state..they select the comments for publication
What’d reckon there is some photoshopping in the pics?
and still in the email I mentioned in comment above last one, when I opened it it loads up a page offering the trial with ALL my details prefilled (from that trial for 3.95 for a 30 day trial (oops refill price was 24.95 per month)
OF course I did not click submit!!!
I scrolled down the page and it was still there about the terma dn conditions in the small unmarked link, and it syas (copy an paste)
our 14 day Trial Period will start when you click the “Submit & Confirm” button on our website. You will be responsible to pay Shipping and Handling charges for your first shipment of AcaiOptimum. If you wish to cancel your order within your Trial Period, simply call 888-361-3913 and return your bottle (Even if it’s empty!) within 30 days from canceling and you will not be charged anything other than the shipping and handling fee. If you enjoy AcaiOptimum, do nothing and at the end of your Trial Period your credit card provided today will be charged $79.98 and you will automatically be enrolled in the AcaiOptimum Fit Club. This means that in approximately 30 days from the end of your Trial Period and every 60 days thereafter, you will be shipped a new 2 month supply of AcaiOptimum for the low price of just $49 per monthly supply with FREE shipping.
so its different from what you are led to believ in the email and by hitting the submit button on the prefilled form.
So I DONT hit the submit button, and a popup internet explorer look identical box comes up with (I can’t copy and paste this) ” Are you sure you want to navigate away from this page. Don’t miss out on this great offer!!! Just press cancel and receive your 99cent trial. Press OK to continue or cancel to stay on this page. I pressed Ok, so I don’t accept their 99c offer and get charged $114 immediately to my Visa as I did yesterday.
It is FRUAD accirding to Visa as well, so if you have acepted please reprt it. I somehow think I got their “diamond Offer” alkthough it was never known to me that such an offer existed and I did enter trial and the costs on the ofrms and all the messages said trial.. but a fast disappearing flashup said I;d been accepted into the program…even without asking (lucky me), and that gives them the right to charge you $114 immediately apparently
I really dont understnd why Visa cant just automatically black list them, I thought that was what happened in cases such as this, but I now will never use my Vis card again with any site that is not one I have regularly used in the past or a large reputable firm.
Update- so far ni poroduct received , visa cancelled my card, even though it was due to expire at the end of the month and issued new cards , new accounts and new no.
Acai optimim tried to charge my crad a no of times the fillowing night $1.40 (I guess $1.19 US), but it was rejected by Visa. Attempts made a few times, but I still have the $144 charge on my account and now have to fill in the paperwork.
No refund ever received or even attempted to be made by the company DESPITE stating I would get one and an email stating the same as well a couple of days later.
No product recived a syet or expected.
UPdate- After posting off the complaint (filling in form Visa posted me) back to Visa yesterday, I checked with Visa today and they said the charge of $114 never qwent onto my account. It was in pending transactions and was stpped, so they MUST HAVE REFUNDED the money, even though Visda told me last Fridat they hadn’t. What happened was NO transaction ever appeared on my account statement.
Which is sad as I spent 3 days copying emails and print screens I had saved and printing out many pages of documenation and it takes me AGES to write it up.
I thought I should let everyone know that they are NOT as bad as thought, and they DID refund the money or manage to stop the charge of $114 going ahead.
Also this afternoon I received the order in the post. They couldn’t stop the shipping as they stated. It was posted , as I suspected from the UK(Royal mail, Edinburgh) although the charge is done in US$.
There is nothing wrong with this, I have ordered from some really good pharmacies that also do this. I think it is because the US are such a large customer base, that it is preferable to make it the US$ charge for the orders and have someone in the US to cover the order taking. The product appears good, and is made in the UK. Ingreadients seem good o.
\i tried one today. No bad side effects noticeable. I will let everyone know how U go, if they are OK re side effects in the intermediate term, how they affect me(if noticeable), and IF i lose any weight..or that horrible “tummy”.
If snyone reads all of my posts they deserve some medal!!
Kind regards, and I think they are OK, Visa said their was attempts to charge $1.40 (presumably the $1.19US) to my card on the night after it was cancelled..that seemed to be when I opened the follow up emails offereing me the discounted rate..the form was [refilled..I did not enter my Visa details.. so be careful, I am unsure what was going on here..but as my card was cancelled they couldnt charge me.
Kind regards to all, and they look like a OK company after all,..I just wish they would fix up their website so NO populs or terms and conditions and it is ALL obvious what uou are signing up for. I actually di want the product for a trial of $1.19 and month $24.95 I think?(that 75% off I was offered) Oh well.
PS the price on the invoice in the package from Edinburgh said UK11 pound something as the charge.. which fits a bit with US $24.95, so I would NOt pay anymore.. I wonder if the UK know what they are trying to charge..
I think they get away with it as they argue it is for their PROGRAM, not just the product..but again that was a popup that gave me that, and one that occured on clicking submit, and immediately disappeared as new page was loaded over it. I was enetered into the program without asking from the start.. not after not opting out!
Kind regards all, and be wary (I was, and it still happened)
Maybe you need a fast laoding computer as the response time for page loadinh and popup loading was slow??
It was good that I read your comments Jan as I was just about to purchase the same products but guess what, my credit card was declined. I called my bank and checked my card and there was noting wrong with it…..so I am now assuming that Visa has blocked transactions from this website. Thanks for the heads up!
Visa told me they had it marked a fraud but couldnt stop it at that time.. think they had already taken it to visa international. My transaction apparently never went thru..held in pending as it was already marked, but I wasnt told that originally I think. I spent an age and sent in all the paperwork , then later I got the goods deleivered AND same day told it want on my visa statement..
I had origanlly phoned them concerned that their website was very misleading and difficult to use with the popups and not having time to read them until flipped to next page and the more popups which say “are you sure” and offer you different prices and conditions ..and the invoice not being the same. I really do think they may have a genuine product..It DOEs supress my appetitie, but it keeps me awake at night so I think the acffeine is high!.. it is a pity they do not offer the product for a reasonable charge and one you know what you are getting.. not many different terms and conditions and many different postage and handling and many different prices.
iT CAME FORm from the Uk and they only charged 11 pound something for 2 bottles. One offer was 24.75 or it may have been 26.50..domething like that for a minths supply.. that would fit with 11 pound and leave a bit for profit (not $114 twice a month!)
I am glad I checked this out, because I am now in contact with my bank to tell them to reverse out the payment – I was billed twice for $132. I ordered ONLY the free samples and accepted I would be billed for shipping and handling – that is not so scam-sounding.
However, after stumbling across your entries here, I realise I have been deceived, and I have been billed over $250 for something I didn’t order.
I wanted to try both free samples of Colon Cleanse and acaisupport – I am sick and I am desperately looking for health-orientated products to help me recover.
I got the Colon Cleanse x2 and an innocuous bill for (GBP)11.99
I have emailed the company via their ticketing support system and received a reply. They were of course asking me to send more contact details and banking details.
ALARM bells.
My bank seem to be confident about blocking the billing and reversing the payment.
How do I get to be so naive?
I have been burned once before, you would think I would learn.
NEVER again.
Don’t feel too bad Terri, you’re not the only one to be caught out by this.
All I can say (to you and to everyone) is to always read the terms and conditions whenever you are about to pull out your credit card for any transaction (online or offline). Make sure you know what you are signing up for.
That’s not to say the offer or product is bad, just open your eyes and make an informed decision.
I’m sure if you contact the companies you ordered from they will cancel your subscriptions.
I am deceived too…same thing, I only accepted to pay 1.19 USD shipping fee and they charged me $114 AUD straight after I hit submit. Just make a complaint with my bank, dont know I can get the money back..may be I have to cancel my card too..
It would be helpful if people could leave the exact name of the website or company they ordered from and had a problem with so other visitors know who to avoid.
SCAM … BEWARE!!
This is the fine print you receive AFTER ordering the product, as copied and pasted below!! Forget the postage and handling of $1.95 you will be billed $112.76 immediately!! And you are not eligible for the rebate if you cancel prior to 40 days!! So you need to have completed two payments in order to qualify for the rebate of one???
If you’ve been scammed like me … so stupid … cancel your credit card immediately and notify you bank of this fraudulent company!

Andrea, these are SOME of the websites:
new6reports.com/au
acaioptimum.com
maxcoloblast.com/ac08kp/?B=370
Basically just stay well away from anything to do with Acai Weight Loss or Cleanse!!
Hi
I purchased the advancecoloncleanse and the acaioptimum plan on the 24th August and was sent both products but was shocked to learn that I had been charged $112.85 per product when I had submitted my order to pay $1.95 per product only! I called the customer support number for Australia ((03) 9008 7796) and got put through to some company in Washington. The lady on the phone has told me that she has now cancelled my program order and that I will not have any further CC charges for either. (as previously she said I would be charged again the same amount in September and then I can email in the rebate and get only $118 back per item). I will have to live with the stupidity of not reading T&C’s prior to pressing submit and the $226 total that I have paid but hopefully I will not be charged again. If I am charged again in September I will be very very very angry…. but I think I will contact my bank and tell them not to process it if it comes through.
grrrrrr!
Nat, thanks for providing a contact telephone number for the place your were scammed through. Not sure if it is the same place as the one I got caught, given the “invoice” I received in the package was addressed with a UK location.
Don’t fall for the idea that just because there is “fine print” terms and conditions that you must pay that initial payment. It is clear from the number of entries here and the stories people are telling that we are all being scammed the same way – and that would imply that the terms and conditions are hidden or deceptive or not clearly stated before payment is processed.
As for some of the other entries where people are saying they may have to have their credit card cancelled, I would be surprised by that.
The most likely thing is to have your bank place a block on this company, so that they can not process against your credit card number.
Then keep an eye on the credit card statement and be on the lookout for any dodgy looking deductions.
Of course, getting a new credit card reissued with a different number may just be the better option… safer at least.
I received a second package the other day… the acaioptimum, and for some strange reason – again – the company has sent me 2 bottles of it.
So now I have 2 bottles of coloncleanse and 2 bottles of acaioptimum, neither of which I will open, as I am prepared to return the unopened unused product in order to defend my right to have the full refund.
I would also suggest that we collectively pool our efforts here and get some kind of national exposure for this…
any thoughts?
Anyone know anyone who has some media influence?
Hey Everyone,
Thanks for you comments and making me realise what I fool I am for ordering this stuff, how stupid of me, usually I am not someone that goes for stuff like this knowing full well none of it could be true.
Do any of you have successful numbers or emails for cancelling and taking action against scam???????
I ordered mine yesterday Sat 4th Sept and want to cancel before they send it out and to stop all any other charges being made.
Your help would be greatly appreciated in a time of need
Jo,
The only thing I can suggest is that you contact your bank, let them know everything, including providing them with link to this site… and tell them you want to reverse out the payment, and put a block on the company…
I also strongly suggest we collectively give this lots of media coverage… no more of their ‘divide and conquer’ tactics… we are stronger together… we need to approach the media collectively…
I have also been caught by this mob. when I reviewed my bank statements I found some information that I think proves they breached their own terms and conditions.
I was charged au $96.35 only 12 days after the charge of au$4.37 for the freight.
The Free sample did not even reach me until three weeks after this charge. They did not wait for the required 15 days.Have not recieved anything they have sent me which is now 5 weeks later after the charge appeared on my statement. I have nothing to send back to get a refund and a charge of $96.35 on my account.
I cannot reach them by phone and cant find an email that will send, so have had to write to them. not very hopeful, but someone else might like to check the time span, and see if they have been charged before the trial time has expired.
Does anyone have an email address. I have closed my bank account.
Ok, so I have just purchased Acai Berry “free trial” and I feel so stupid that I didn’t read any of this before hand. is there anyway I cancel this before the product arrives. I have Acai Burn but so far I do not see any results. Can someone please help, I already know the numbers are fake and that there is NO email shown up on the site. If anyone could help me with this I would appreciate that very much!
I was too connned by this SCAM companie.
I never received any goods even forgotten about it,then ,to my amaizement one and a half moments after I was charged 99.95 USD twice.
But after bombarding them with more than 50 emails over 2 days and a couple of phone calls at 3 am got a email saying I’ll get a refund .couldn’t believe my luck because I tought I would never be payed back .even Westpac bank rep was surprised.
I just told them I was going to national tv talking about the scam and the bank was after them too and surprise, surprise within 3 days I had my money.
I’m very lucky because when I red about all this people my heart hurts.
But you have to be ruthless and very assertive.
What I cannot understand is why facebook still advertise under a different Name I suspect.
I learn a very valuable lesson.
And only have to say this pills are rubbish buy some nice fruit and it will be better for you at a fraction of the price!!
Yep, sucked in again, us humans never seem to learn
Hello fellow consumers…I got done as well, and when I questioned it, the too directed me to a phone number in Victoria. by the way, take it from someone that has taken the pills, it’s a load of crap! It doesn’t work. There is no such thing as a magic pill to help you lose weight. Do it the right way by watching what you eat and how much you are eating, and exercise regularly. Patients is a virtue that I learned to develop and over 5 weeks, I managed to lose 7kg in a natural way without any pills.
Has anyone had any problems ordering these pills via the website of Diet Institute of Australia?
Diet Institute of Australia? Does that organisation actually exist? What is the website address?
